An air conditioner that runs but does not cool is a common Miami problem in peak summer. It can be a simple airflow or condensate issue, or a refrigerant or compressor failure. - Check that the thermostat is set to cool and the setpoint is below room temperature.
- Confirm the outdoor unit is running and not buried in debris.
- Look for a full condensate drain pan or a wet switch that has shut the system down.
- If those checks do not restore cooling, call a licensed mechanical contractor and describe the symptom — not cooling, not turning on, leaking, or iced lines.
